Preparation
Infected cells are disrupted and clarified to remove cell debris. Virus is concentrated by ultracentrifugation and presented in cell culture medium free of fetal calf serum.
Inactivation
Heat treatment at 56 °C. Inactivity is confirmed by attempted growth under original culture conditions. Since no procedure can guarantee absolute sterility, the reagent should be handled with appropriate safety precautions.
