Preparation
Harvested organisms are washed and processed in a two step detergent extraction process. Antigen is enriched for P1 adhesin protein and is presented in phosphate solubilising buffer containing 2% n-octylglucopyranoside.
Inactivation
By detergent treatment. Inactivity is confirmed by attempted growth under original culture conditions. Since no procedure can guarantee absolute sterility, the reagent should be handled with appropriate safety precautions.
