Brucella ssp. are gram-negative amotile bacteria which live as intracellular parasites in a wide spectrum of farm animals. Human infection is mainly caused by Brucella melitensis (“Malta fever”), Brucella abortus (“Morburs Bang”), Brucella suis and Brucella canis.
