Echoviruses (31 serotypes) and Coxsackieviruses A (23 serotypes) and B (6 serotypes) belong to the family of Picornaviridae, genus Enterovirus. Furthermore, this genus comprises three poliovirus serotypes and Enterovirus types 68-71. This virus group shares physical, chemical and biological properties and has a similar epidemiological pattern.
SERION ELISA classic Enterovirus IgG/IgM/IgA are qualitative and quantitative tests for detection of human antibodies in serum or plasma against Enteroviruses. Positive IgM- and/or IgA-detection in combination with increasing IgG titers (paired sera) indicate acute or recent Enterovirus infection. Persisting IgM- and IgA-antibodies may indicate chronic infection.
