Rubella Virus is a genetically stable RNA viruse human pathogen that belongs to the Togavirus famil, genus Rubivirus. The virus is globally spread and transmitted by droplets and direct contact. It causes the children’s disease Rubella.
SERION ELISA classic Rubella Virus IgG/IgM are qualitative and quantitative tests for the detection of human antibodies in serum, plasma or cerebrospinal fluid against Rubella Virus. Demonstration of anti-Rubella IgG and IgM is of particular value in the serological investigation of Rubella for the determination of immune status as well as for determining primary infection.
Furthermore, the SERION ELISA classic Rubella Virus IgM is also evaluated for the detection of antibodies in neonatal blood samples. The test can be combined with the established neonatal screening, which is a test for the detection of metabolic diseases because for the performance of both methods dried blood spots (DBS diameter 1/8 inch resp. 3.2 mm) are necessary.
