Chikungunya is endemic in parts of Africa, South East Asia and the Indian continent. The chikungunya virus is transmitted by mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus). The term „chikungunya“ comes from the Makonde language and means „crookedly walking“.
This is due to the bent posture of many patients caused by acute polyarthritis (MiQ2016). The SERION ELISA classic Chikungunya Virus IgG and IgM tests are qualitative and quantitative immunoassays for the detection of human antibodies in serum or plasma directed against chikungunya virus. The assays support the diagnosis of acute diseases and differential diagnosis.
The SERION ELISA classic Chikungunya Virus IgG and IgM tests facilitate specific antibody detection by using recombinant VLPs consisting of E1, E2 and Capsid proteins as antigen. Expression in a human cell system enables a native protein structure.
